The Acts Challenge
Sent
This year, 2025 is our year to be "Sent". As we focus on the book of Acts and the work of the Holy Spirit in the early church, we want to challenge our community to take on the values of the early church.
The early church was founded on three things:
Charity-giving to those in need
Worship-focusing on what really matters, Jesus
Community-those first two values practiced together with others
Jesus sends His disciples to all corners of the Earth to disciple, baptize, and teach others to follow Him (Matt. 28:18-20). In that calling, He promises to be with us every step of the way. Jesus followers are sent as ambassadors for the Kingdom of God (Luke 10:1-9).
God's Kingdom moves in us, with us, and through us as we play sports, work in our careers, study in school, partake in our hobbies, drive on the road, and as we live life with our family and friends. Where you walk, where you go, whatever spaces you enter, God is present with you.
God's Kingdom is on the move through you. When the Spirit of God rests in your life, you become the place where people can have an encounter with God. Our Acts Challenge for 2025 challenges us to a life of intentional mission for 2025.
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2
Charity
I will commit to making an intentional effort to love those around me by giving of my time, my energy, and my resources through:
Volunteering in my church or local community,
Faithfully giving back financially, and
Responding to the needs of those around through prayer and practical help and support.
Worship
I will commit to making my relationship with God my number one priority by:
Spending time daily in gratitude, prayer, and bible study,
Worshipping together with other believers acknowledging that, worship is about honouring God and not preferences or comforts, and
Making an intentional effort to spend time reading and discussing God's word with others weekly.
Community
I will commit to intentionally creating a positive and loving community around me no matter the cost by:
Making an effort to meaningfully connect with individuals outside of my immediate social circle and outside of my church community,
Spending time outside of church
programs/events to share a meal or drink with others, and
Creating meaningful friendships through honestly sharing my joys and sorrows and inviting others to do the same.
